Unexpected turn of events sometimes leads to memorable endings. One dog who survived the street life found her forever home when a kind woman took her in.
One morning, Sarah Grant and her family readied their yard for the onslaught of Hurricane Irma in Florida. That’s when she noticed a stray dog across the street, looking weak and stressed.
Curious, Sarah called the dog over. With caution, the stray dog approached her – even looking at both directions before crossing. According to Sarah, upon seeing the dog up close, she saw that she was in bad shape. The dirty animal smelled and had a badly matted fur. Despite the thick coat, it was evident that the dog was underweight. Sarah quickly grabbed some food from inside the house and fed the dog at the patio.
The dog finished her bowl in seconds! Sarah had to refill it thrice before she had her fill. She was also very thirsty – finishing three bowls of water. Sarah went on through her day, but the dog refused to leave the patio. She just waited for Sarah to come back out. The woman noticed the change in the dog’s demeanor after the nourishment. She became clingy and snuggly. That’s when she decided to invite the dog in.
Inside, Sarah attempted to bath the dog, to no avail. She let her rest in the corner, joining her pet dog, Arthur. Surprisingly, the two furbabies got along just fine. A little later, for the second time, Sarah tried to bath the dog. This time, the dog allowed Sarah and her husband to tend to her – allowing them to cut her matted fur and clean her wounds.
Sarah grew attached to the sweet dog – but she knew she needed to find her owners. She took the dog to the nearby animal clinic where they scanned her for a microchip, but nothing. Sarah then posted a picture of the dog online in the hopes of finding her owner, through which she did! It turns out, the dog’s previous owner gave her to a couple who said they’d take care of her. But the said couple let her out on the side of the road – and that’s when the dog lost her way.
Knowing the dog has nowhere else to go, Sarah decided to adopt her officially! She could not find a perfect pet – so grateful and loving towards her and her family who gave her refuge from the hurricane. They decided to name her Amaterasu or Amy for short. She now enjoys her life with her new family. Sarah and her family thank the doggo gods for sending such a sweet dog who is now their source of happiness!
